Twinspire’s financial empowerment workshops are transformative learning experiences designed to equip foster youth and at-promise youth with critical financial literacy skills. These workshops are tailored to meet the unique needs of youth across different settings, including schools, Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs (STRTPs), and probation sites, ensuring accessibility and relevance for participants from diverse backgrounds.

BUDGETING:

Elements of budgeting, creating a budget, needs vs. wants, and budget strategies/goals

CREDIT:

Credit score, management, development, repair strategies, and improvement

INVESTING: 

 How to invest, what to invest in, risk tolerance & diversification, impact investing, and retirement planning

 

SAVINGS:

Economic injustice, savings goals, autopilot savings, SMART Saving, and emergency/opportunity funds

DEBT:

Economic injustice, savings goals, autopilot savings, SMART Saving, and emergency/opportunity funds

Each workshop is designed to be interactive and engaging, using real-life scenarios, group activities, and lived-experience facilitators who resonate with the challenges participants face.

1. Who are the financial empowerment workshops designed for?

Our workshops are designed for foster youth, system-impacted and at-promise youth ages 13–30 who want to build real-world financial skills and confidence.

2. What topics do the workshops cover?

We cover essential topics like budgeting, saving, credit, investing, and building generational wealth, using culturally relevant examples and interactive activities led by facilitators with lived experience.

3. How long are the workshops and where are they held?

Workshops are typically held weekly and can range from 4 to 8 weeks. The sessions are typically one-hour and take place at Twinspire’s headquarters in Echo Park, partner schools, community centers, and juvenile facilities across Los Angeles County.
